Machine vision is a rapidly developing branch of artificial intelligence. Simply put, machine vision is the use of machines to replace human eyes for measurement and judgment. The machine vision system segments CMOS and CCD through machine vision products (i.e. image capture devices), converts the absorbed target into an image signal, and transmits it to a specialized image processing system. Based on pixel distribution, brightness, color, and other information, it obtains the morphological information of the absorbed target and converts it into a digital signal; The image system performs various calculations on these signals to extract features of the target, and then controls the actions of the on-site equipment based on the judgment results.
The development trend of robot vision
1. The price continues to decline
At present, China's machine vision technology is not very mature and mainly relies on imported complete systems, which are relatively expensive. With the advancement of technology and fierce market competition, price decline has become an inevitable trend, which means that machine vision technology will gradually be accepted.
2. Gradually increasing functions
The implementation of multifunctionality mainly comes from the enhancement of computing power. The sensor has higher resolution, faster scanning speed, and improved software functionality. Although the speed of PC processors is steadily increasing, their prices are also decreasing, which has driven the emergence of faster buses. Conversely, the bus allows larger images to be transmitted and processed at a faster speed with more data.
3. Small products
The trend of product miniaturization enables the industry to package more parts in smaller spaces, which means that machine vision products become smaller and can therefore be applied to the limited space provided by factories. For example, LED has become the main light source in industrial accessories. Its small size makes it easy to measure imaging parameters, and its durability and stability are very suitable for factory equipment.
4. Add integrated products
The development of smart cameras indicates a growing trend in integrated products. The intelligent camera integrates a processor, lens, light source, input/output devices, Ethernet, telephone, and Ethernet PDA. It promotes faster and cheaper RISC, making the emergence of smart cameras and embedded processors possible. Similarly, the advancement of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology has added computational capabilities to smart cameras, as well as computational functions to embedded processors and high-performance collectors in smart camera PCs. Combining smart cameras with most computing tasks, FPGAs, DSPs, and microprocessors will become even more intelligent.
