The industrial robot market is rapidly emerging like mushrooms after rain and is becoming a new engine for global manufacturing. Behind the global sweep of intelligent manufacturing, machine vision technology, known as the "eye-catching" role of industrial robots, plays an indispensable role! The laser seam tracking system is an important equipment for welding robots to achieve intelligence.
Principle of laser seam tracking system
The visual system, combined with laser and visual technology, can achieve precise detection of three-dimensional spatial coordinate positions, enabling robots to achieve autonomous recognition and adjustment functions. It is the core component of robot control. The system mainly consists of two parts: a laser sensor and a control host. The laser sensor is responsible for actively collecting welding seam information, while the control host is responsible for real-time processing of welding seam information, guiding industrial robots or welding specialized machines to independently correct programming paths, and meeting the needs of intelligent production.
The laser seam tracking sensor mainly consists of CMOS cameras, semiconductor lasers, laser protective lenses, splash shields, and air-cooled devices. Using the principle of laser triangulation reflection, the laser beam is amplified to form a laser line projected onto the surface of the measured object. The reflected light passes through a high-quality optical system and is imaged on a COMS sensor. This image information is processed to generate information such as the working distance, position, and shape of the measured object. By analyzing and processing the detection data, the deviation of the robot's programming trajectory is calculated and corrected. The obtained information can be used for welding seam search and positioning, welding seam tracking, adaptive welding parameter control, and real-time transmission of information to the robotic arm unit to complete various complex welding, avoid welding quality deviations, and achieve intelligent welding.
The function of laser seam tracking system
For fully automated welding applications such as robots or automatic welding machines, the programming and memory capabilities of the machine, as well as the accuracy and consistency of the workpiece and its assembly, are mainly relied on to ensure that the welding gun can align with the weld seam within the precision range permitted by the process. Once the accuracy cannot meet the requirements, it is necessary to re teach the robot.
Sensors are usually installed at a pre-set distance (in advance) in front of the welding gun, so it can observe the distance from the weld sensor body to the workpiece, that is, the installation height depends on the sensor model installed. Only when the welding gun is correctly positioned above the weld seam can the camera observe the weld seam.
The device calculates the deviation between the detected weld seam and the welding gun, outputs deviation data, and the motion execution mechanism corrects the deviation in real time, accurately guiding the welding gun to automatically weld, thereby achieving real-time communication with the robot control system to track the weld seam for welding, which is equivalent to installing eyes on the robot.
The value of laser seam tracking system
Usually, the repetitive positioning accuracy, programming and memory capabilities of machines can meet the requirements of welding. However, in many cases, the accuracy and consistency of the workpiece and its assembly are not easy to meet the requirements of large-scale workpiece or large-scale automatic welding production, and there are also stresses and deformations caused by overheating. Therefore, once these situations are encountered, an automatic tracking device is needed to perform functions similar to coordinated tracking and adjustment of human eyes and hands in manual welding. Improve the labor intensity of manual work, help enterprises reduce production costs, and improve work efficiency.
